Latest Prize Jumper
The jumper is begun at the hem of the front, and is worked upwards, dividing for the opening for the head, and then downwards until the bottom hem is reached.
The sleeves are made partly by casting on stitches from the main body of the garment, and also by adding rows afterwards.
The jumper is worked in Fair Isle stripes with a lace pattern yoke and upper sleeves.
It is trimmed with crochet around the edges.
It is described as fitting a figure with from 32 to 37 inch bust measurement.
Using the original yarn, three balls of the main colour are used, and one ball each of four other colours. Esplen-d’or came in 4 oz balls; it was an artificial silk yarn.
The jumper was designed by a winning entrant to a Daily Sketch competition. She won £40 and an extra £20
