There’s something about the combination of cables and lace that always appeals to me. It’s a bit like having the best of both worlds. This versatile and richly textured vest can go from casual to elegant and from classic to modern with its interesting side details. The silhouette is slightly A-line providing a bit of ease below the waist for a comfortable fit. The softly curved V-neck is edge with a Faggot Stitch band.

Construction Notes: The Vest is worked in two flat pieces. A garter selvedge stitch is used at each edge of each row. The sides are flanked with ribbing that decreases and adds an interesting angle to the side detail. Neck edging is achieved by working neck decrease shaping at the outer edge of the Faggot Stitch center front panel. The faggot edging is continued to the center back of the neck with stitches left live. After blocking, the live stitches at the center back of the neck are joined using the three-needle bind off.

Finished Dimensions: 34(37 1/2, 41, 45, 48 1/2, 52)“ circumference at bust. Sample sown is XS. Intended ease is 2 - 4”.

Skill level: Intermediate. Knitter should be confident with basic cables and lace patterns.
