Lavendura is inspired by my love of lavender flowers, their heavenly, relaxing scent, and a reminder that summer is never too far away. The colour of the yarn reminded me of a sun-kissed lavender field in full bloom, blossoms swaying in the breeze, their soothing fragrance permeating through the air, and the subtle hum of visiting bees adding to the symphony of beauty.

This beanie is a tribute to this delicate dance of nature, with the stitches designed to mimic the shape of the lavender flower as it stands tall. It is a very simple lacework design that looks much scarier than it is! I promise you’ll have bouquets of fun knitting this soft, fluffy beanie to keep you warm while you wait for the sunshine and lavender of summertime.

This makes the perfect partner for the Lavendura Mitts and I got both out of one skein. Both written instructions and charts for the lace and decreases is provided. The lace is a 19-stitch pattern repeated 6 times around the beanie.

Yarn used:
Happy-go-knitty | Āhuru | 4ply, Fingering 80% merino 20% possum non-Superwash 100g/400m (437.5 yards) in colour Jacaranda.

NOTE:
This yarn has such a halo to it, the fuzz fills in any gaps making it appear heavier than most fingering yarn. Substituting for two strands of lace weight Mohair or Suri held together, or a sport weight yarn might be better for you.

Sizes:
There are 3 lengths, starting with a close fitting, beanie-style hat in a size Medium Adult and through to a slouchier fit 1(2, 3). The hat should be made with 4-5cm (1.5-2”) of negative ease to show off the lace.
You can alter the sizing by going up or down needle sizes to achieve the fit you would like.
