Lavendura Fingerless Mitts
Lavendura is inspired by my love of lavender flowers, their heavenly, relaxing scent, and a reminder that summer is never too far away. The colour of the yarn reminded me of a sun-kissed lavender field in full bloom, blossoms swaying in the breeze, their soothing fragrance permeating through the air, and the subtle hum of visiting bees adding to the symphony of beauty.
These fingerless mitts are a perfect partner for the Lavendura Beanie and I got both items out of one skein - with the stitches designed to mimic the shape of the lavender flower as it stands tall. It is a very simple lacework design that looks much scarier than it is! I promise you’ll have bouquets of fun knitting these soft, fluffy mitts to keep you warm while you wait for the sunshine and lavender of summertime.
Both written instructions and a chart for the lace is provided. The lace is a 19-stitch pattern.
Yarn used:
Happy-go-knitty | Āhuru | 4ply, Fingering 80% merino 20% possum non-Superwash 100g/400m (437.5 yards) in colour Jacaranda.
NOTE:
This yarn has such a halo to it, the fuzz fills in any gaps making it appear heavier than most fingering yarn. Substituting for two strands of lace weight Mohair or Suri held together, or a sport weight yarn might be better for you.
Sizes:
These mitts are designed to hug your hands and are written for a size Small-Medium Adult. They should have a negative ease of 1-2cm (0.4-0.8”).
You can alter the sizing by going up or down needle sizes or add additional stitches to either side of the lace panel.
