This pattern is 14 pages long and includes the instructions for the penguin, as well as the chick and egg. The penguin chick fits inside the egg which then fits inside the penguin so she can lay the egg which then can hatch! The chick can then sit on the feet of the adult penguin in the same way that male emperor penguins care for their young.

It contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way and it is written in American crochet terms.

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Patons Smoothie DK Yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and my finished adult penguin measures 15.5cm tall. You will need the following colours: White, black, grey, yellow & cream.

A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

Toy stuffing.

Orange & black finer yarn or embroidery thread for adding the details.

A pair of 6 mm black safety eyes (the eyes can be embroidered if preferred).

A small button for fastening the egg & a press stud / snap fastener for fastening the penguin!

Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and a stitch marker. You will also need a needle and thread for attaching the button & press stud / snap fastener.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Thank you.
