This is the perfect hat to crank out over a weekend when you need a gift ASAP. The broken seed stitch adds an extra flair and the increase in needle size for the body gives it the perfect slouch. This hat is a good stash buster project for those odd-ball half skeins you’re not sure what to do with. Add a pom-pom for extra fun. Don’t want it slouchy? Don’t change your needles when you start the body! It’s your hat, go crazy and make it exactly how you want to.

Suggested Needles: US 6 (4.0MM) and US 8 (5.0MM), either double points or with a 40 in cable for magic loop

Suggested Yarn: Madelinetosh DK
MC: 145 yds (2.5 oz) CC: 60 yds (1 oz)

Gauge: Gauge was knit using the larger needles in the pattern for the body (but it’s a hat, so gauge isn’t super important)

Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers, and a pom pom maker or a faux fur pom pom if desired.

Extra fun: Put a tassel instead of a pom pom. If you decide to wire it to make the hat light up, please send pictures.
