This is a straight-cut dress with the same width all the way up to the underarms. The entire dress is worked with two strands held together - the ribbing with two strands of Alpaca Fine, and the body of the dress is worked with one strand of each yarn quality held together.
The dress is cast on using an Italian cast-on and is worked from the bottom up. You start by knitting the front and back separately, back and forth, to shape the slit. Once the ribbing for the slit is done, you join to work in the round up to the underarms.
At the underarms, the work is divided into front and back, and you continue in stockinette stitch, back and forth. The shoulders are joined using the three-needle bind-off.
Finally, ribbing is worked around the neckline and armholes.
