(During this June 2017 revision, Ravelry mandatory 50-character limit for pattern title enforced -- had not been activated when originally published in October 2011 -- so edited title to comply, placing original pattern title -- “Le Jazz Hot Multi-Strand I-Cord Choker-Style Necklace” -- in Alias field.)

(Previously, this pattern had 182 downloads from soysilk.com as of 27 December 2011.)

Additional gauge/needle information:

Four-stitch I-cord diameter (flattened) = approximately 1/4-3/8”.

If US Size 4 needles do not result in specified I-cord gauge, try US Size 3 or 5 instead, as always in knitter’s preference of DPNs, straights, or circulars used as straights.

Additional materials needed:

  • Yarn needle (for finishing).
  • Two (2) hypoallergenic metal rings, each 1” in diameter with a 3/4” opening.

Different colors of yarn:

The photo shows A007, but there are eight (8) colors of SWTC Jazz, and all swatch beautifully for this design. Depending upon your color choice, you may wish to substitute appropriately sized rings that are non-metal (such as glazed and fired ceramics) to broaden your creative options.

Construction and appearance:

This design lends itself well to being scaled down (for a matching bracelet or anklet, perhaps) or up (for a contrasting belt, say, or even a separately-worn hairband). To rescale the design, just create the I-cord in the exact manner described in the pattern, but alter the resultant width by changing the number of lengths created, the length by changing the actual measured length of each I-cord created, and the closure by size of the rings purchased.
