Gauge is not essential for this pattern.

The pattern uses 3ply crochet cotton, or fingering yarn and a 2mm or B/1 hook.

Other materials: stitch markers, scissors, needle.

The coaster size uses approximately 25m or 28 yards of 3ply crochet cotton. The placemat size uses approximately 167m or 182 yards. This can differ based on your hook size, yarn of choice, your tension and the size of the final product that you would like.
