I love the look of a granny square, but I don’t crochet, or know anyone who crochets, so I simplified a repeating leaf lace pattern (the “little diamonds” pattern on Knittingfool.com) into a single block for all the knitters out there who are jealous of the granny square look! This is a super quick knit since it’s only 10 rows long, and uses a super bulky weight yarn.

The square measures roughly 4 by 4 inches once blocked.

I intend to make a lovely blanket out of the squares and will post a picture of the finished product when I’m done!

Please note, SSKPO means (according to knittingfool website):

ssk, then place the stitch back on the left-hand needle. Lift the second
stitch on the left-hand needle over the ssk loop, then return the ssk
loop to the right-hand needle.

This square should be blocked because it tends to curl a bit, and it helps bring out the structure of the lace.
