For Leaf Lettuce you need two contrasting yarns of the same weight: two solids, one solid or semi solid combined with a color gradient, or two color gradients that go well together as a pair but that are distinctive enough to make out the individual modules – all these ensembles will do.

The amount of yarn you need will of course depend on the tightness of your knitting and the weight of your yarn. The size will depend on the amount of modules you want to knit. Yarn B ist the color for the backdrop. Yarn A is used for the “leafs”. You will need 5x as much yarn of Yarn B as you need of Yarn A. Leaf Lettuce has a Waxing and a Waning Part. Therefore, you can use any yarn weight and needles you like and knit any size from a large shawl to a small shawlette. Simply start knitting the Waxing Part and either knit until you have used 50% of your yarn or until you have reached half of the desired length. Then knit the Waning Part.

I knitted one model with Picktheyarn SUUF and I used 175y/160m of Yarn A and 985y/900m of Yarn B (depth: 25”/63,5cm - length 87”/221cm). I knitted another model with Schoppel 6 Karat, Froschkönig as Yarn B (2x 660y/460m) using two strands a the same time to match the weight of Noro Flower Bed as Yarn A (135y/120m) - length: 66”/168cm - depth 18”/46cm. I also knitted one model with Wollmeise Pure Shangrila as Yarn B (600y/550m) and Wollmeise Pure Frühling as Yarn A (110y/100m) - length: 57”/144cm - depth 16”/40cm

Leaf Lettuce is a modular knit but there is no seaming involved as you will join all the modules as you go. You will find photo tutorials on all the necessary techniques. All instructions are given in written and charted form. Since the charts are very large you will find the charted and written instructions in two separate files.
