Now affectionately knows as LOL, Leaves of the Lake was inspired by the last spring retreat at Squam Lake. After a New England spring of heavy rain, there were green leaves everywhere with the light hitting off of them at every turn. I’m not usually a green yarn person but I was left with the need to create a memory of Squam for myself and anyone else who loved what it brought to the world.

LOL is a boomerang shawl with simple textured stitches. Use your favorite tonal color to create your own LOL. This was made with Dirty Water Dyeworks Lillian in “Depression Glass” (single skein) and Heliotrope (2 skeins.) Choose your favorite color - she has many beautiful colors to choose from (see left.)

There are knits and purls, a few slipped stitches for texture and a yarn over here and there. There is a chart for the purled leaves panel as well as written instructions.

Note that this is not a good pattern for speckled or variegated yarn, but is wonderful for tonal colors.

The lake picture at the left is not, unfortunately Squam. I had to borrow a different lake due to geographical constrictions, so this is Upper Lake at Glendalough, County Wicklow, Ireland.
