The Leclair will be your new go-to knit for your spring-to-summer wardrobe! With an open lace body, this little number is perfect for throwing over your favorite button-down or summer frock. The pullover is named after Baroque composer Jean-Marie Leclair: lacemaker by day, violinist by night. The lace mimics the intricacy of his music and keeps you motivated during your knit, keeping you excited to try out every line of the charted lace pattern!

This sweater is knit flat and seamed in the shoulders, then sleeves are picked up in the round making for easy and quick construction. The recommended positive ease will ensure beautiful drape and the sleeves to fit snugly but not too tight. The allover lace design is super forgiving so you’re able to lengthen or add positive ease with no trouble during blocking.

Test knitters found success with several different fiber blends and yarn weights. Feel free to use heavy Sport or DK when working up this pattern. Both weights will keep the integrity of the lace while giving you a nice drape.

MATERIALS
Needles:
-Main needle: US7/4.5mm straight or long circular needle for body (knit flat) and short (7-9” / 18-23cm) circular needle in same size for sleeves (knit in the round - magic loop not recommended due to lace pattern but it is possible)
-Ribbing needle: US4/3.5mm straight or long circular needle for body and circular needle in same size for sleeve cuffs (knit in the round - any method will work)
Note: Needle sizes are recommendations only. Please choose a main needle size that will result in correct gauge and ribbing needle 2-3 sizes smaller.

Approximately 630, 685(775, 1045, 1140, 1330, 1405)yds / 576, 626(709, 956, 1042, 1216, 1284)m heavy sport or DK weight yarn
Note: a generous yardage buffer has been added, so might not need a whole extra skein if your yardage is close (especially if you are someone who always ends up with extra yarn after a project!). l, xl, 2x, and 3x have extra length in the body built in to the pattern, so you can use slightly less yardage if you’re going for the crop length as shown on the sample.

Note on sizing: I recommend choosing your size based on bust circumference and how much ease you prefer. Sleeve circumference is very easily customizable, and you can make the stitch count adjustment while seaming up the sides and picking up sleeve stitches. Sleeves are meant to have a bit of negative ease.
