If this pattern had one more stitch, the purl
stitches for each round would fall into line with
each other. They would be “in phase”, as it were.
Instead, they are out of phase and slant up and to
the left. So, they are left out of phase.

Errata: I forgot to tell you to join the work and knit in the round! Please so do. Use double-point needles or whatever kind you prefer for working a small circumference.

This is a very simple pattern, so I’ve paired it with its opposing version and put a very low price on it.
