When the cupboard is full of leftover yarn, this striped cardigan can make room for more. Each colour is no more than 3 rows, randomly alternating 1,2 and 3 rows of colour.
I put in a few random purl rows on the knit side for interest. It’s up to you if you want to mix it up.
The cardigan is a loose fit, knitted from the bottom up, separating at the armholes and joining at the shoulders. The sleeves are knitted at the same time. This is to ensure they have matching colour stipes and there is enough yarn of each colour. The sleeves are not very loose.
The front bands are knitted in garter stitch as part of the main body of work. The cardigan doesn’t fasten, it simply crosses over informally.
There is a substantial number of loose ends to sew in.
You can use two strands of 4 ply held together if you run out of 8ply or want a specific colour.
