Super fast, ultra simple cat beanie crocheted with two strands held together. After knitting a big stack of pussyhats for the Women’s March on Washington, I had a gorgeous basket of leftover yarns. I just started crocheting with a big hook and two strands held together. I got so many compliments on this hat that I decided to share it with you all so you can make some with your leftovers too. Big plus, now that spring approaches….it’s air conditioned!

I’m a loose crocheter, meaning that my stitches are always kind of far apart. If you crochet closer than I do, or if you want to make this hat in a different gauge, then just make enough chains to go around your (or your intended wearer’s) head and go from there. Add more rows if you want a longer hat. It’s that simple. It’s worked in the round from the top down. No need for fancy crochet cast ons, since a simple chain makes the ears stand up better than a stretchy cast on.

Have fun!
