Leiden is a versatile stranded colourwork sock pattern in two sizes. Tulips adorn the heel and toe, reinforcing the area of most wear. The leg and foot feature a simple stripe pattern punctuated with a slipped stitch which creates a jogless join as well as adding interest. Instructions are provided for working the socks toe up or cuff down.

Sian’s Yarns Sock Yarn (75% Superwash wool, 25% nylon; 390 m / 427 yds per per 100 g / 3.52 oz) in three colours:
Yarn 1: Snow - approx 100g
Yarn 2: Watermelon Skin approx 20g
Yarn 3: Terry’s Orange approx 50g

Alternative yarns should be of a similar fibre content and length per 100 g / 3.52 oz.

Knitting needles
2.25 mm / US 1; 80 cm / 32” circular knitting needle

Notions
30 cm “waste“ 4ply/ fingering weight yarn for afterthought heel - it should be distinctive from Yarn 1 and 2.
