I designed this for the Fiber Factor, challenge 3, Blank Slate. You were to design anything using Hikoo’s Kenzie yarn in a tan color. I didn’t want to buy yarn when I have so much in my stash so I used Cascade 220 Superwash instead.

I like having a lightweight shawl to wear when I go out with my husband. It gives me something to do with my hands (when I can’t be knitting) but doesn’t make me overheated. It also makes a nice conversation piece.

I love the leaves in the middle section and when my husband said the blocking shawl looked like a Viking ship, I thought “leif” had to be in the title. “Leif on the wind” just seemed appropriate somehow.

The gauge is listed in the pattern - one leaf is about 2 1/2 inches across, and one diamond to the next is about 1 3/4 inches.

Edit on 8/14/2013 - On row 13 of the second set of garter ridges, the row begins “knit 3, yo, knit 1 yo” then continue as written!
