Leilani Top
Yarn and hook: 200 gr (420 m/460 yds) of self-striping, cotton DK /size 3 yarn (brand of your choice), 100 gr of a cotton mix in main (framing) color, and a 3 mm hook (UK 8) (US:G/6) of your choice / brand. For the granny flowers I used a brand that is sadly discontinued (My Love Knitting by Anatoliya Iplik); however Camilla Batik would also work perfectly. For the rest of the squares and ribbing, I used Madame Cotton, color no.003 as the main color. I recommend using a mix of cotton and acrylic. Madame Cotton is 51% acrylic and 49% cotton. The feel is heavenly, and it works as smooth as butter!
Also needed: tapestry needle, stitch markers, and scissors.
Stitches: chain (ch), stitch (st), skip (sk), slip stitch (sl st), double crochet (dc), treble (tr). American terminology used.
Gauge: Granny square center of flower in diameter: 3.5 cm / 1.3”. Square total: 17 x 17cm or 6.69 x 6.69”.
Top measurements (fits sizes S/M): front panel 50 cm/ 19.6 across, and 32 cm / 13” in length, ribbing included. Sleeves are 17 cm/ 6.69” in width and 50 cm/ 19.6 in length.
Note: For this top you need to make a total of 24 squares. Six (6) for the front and the back, and six (6) for each of the sleeves. For bigger sizes, add an additional round to the squares. One round per size. Consider that you will need more yarn for bigger sizes.
