For centuries, the sweaters of fishermen and their clans in the British Isles have been decorated with intricate patterns of cables and purl stitches. In the US state of Georgia, the Scottish and Irish cultures have dominated cultural life since, literally, pre-colonial times. As a matter of a fact, Georgia was initially colonized by Scotsmen looking to establish their family lines on the other side of the pond. Lenox is a sock pattern that celebrates the Celtic history of the people and places of Georgia with its unique mirrored Guernsey pattern on both the leg and the instep.
