Let’s play murder! Crime solving at its most luxurious. This 100% silk jumper is decorated with my variation of the superb The Wallpaper Had It Coming Again design (by Morgen Dammerung), now with even more Moriarty skulls! A versatile, timeless design which can be dressed up or dressed down as per requirements.

First, a warning: this is definitely not a beginner’s knit. The fronts and back are cast on as one piece and worked together in the round up until the armpits, with a purled line indicating a mock seam along each side (to help with shaping and pattern control). The body is shaped by decreases, increases and short rows. The sleeves are worked in the round and combined with the body; the yoke is then knitted in the round. The resulting garment is practically seamless. Wallpaper and skull motifs worked in stranded techniques. Additional warning: the silk yarn can be very temperamental and difficult to knit with – slippery and with very little give. Proceed with caution.

Materials:
5 skeins of Filatura di Crosa Golden Line Luxury 4 ply (100% silk, 1 skein = 50g) in Silver
4 skeins of Filatura di Crosa Golden Line Luxury 4 ply (100% silk, 1 skein = 50g) in Black

3.00 mm needles - I used a circular 60 cm needle
A set of 4 3.00 mm DPNs
Stitch holders, safety pins, markers etc.

Gauge: 23 x 36 sts to 10 x 10 cm on 3.00 mm needles (NB: I am a particularly loose knitter, so check your gauge carefully – you may have to go up a needle size or two).

Size: Women’s M, which is to say my own measurements. Length 57 cm, sleeve length from neck 67 cm, from armpit 45 cm. Fits hips 94-6cm, waist 75 cm, chest 94-6 cm. This is a well-fitted garment that is close to the body. Size can be somewhat adjusted with increases/decreases in the body; if you want to change the size considerably, you’ll need to adjust it by a multiple of 24 sts in the yoke, to account for the pattern. The jumper is well-fitted, with narrow long sleeves and a fitted yoke – the silk yarn is not very stretchy, so check the measurements carefully.
