Letterfrack Shawl
About
The Letterfrack Shawl is named for a small village in County Galway, Ireland not too far from Clifden. In Gaelic, Leitir Fraic means “The Speckled Hill”. This inspired the eyelets that speckle this shawl and the lovely speckled yarn that is highlighted with all of the garter in this design.
This easy knit is perfect for summer and visiting with friends and family. It’s simple enough to keep you engaged, while you also focus on conversations with friends.
This two-color, crescent-shaped shawl—with both written and charted directions—shows off a tonal and speckled yarn or two tonals. Easy enough for a beginner knitter but engaging enough for an advanced one. Filled with fields of eyelets and a good bit of garter. This streamlined design is very wearable either around the shoulders traditionally or worn around the neck like a scarf. I hope knitting it keeps you company this summer and wearing it keeps you warm afterward.
