“Libby Island light is the companion of all who live near her waters. Her admonishing trumpet can be heard through the mist whenever the fog, as it frequently does, rolls into Machias bay. I remember as a girl laying in bed and listening to the fog horn. I knew exactly how many seconds ticked between the blast of the horn and the ensuing flash of light that flooded the night sky. Two beams would sweep by; a moment of hesitation, and then one more. Its deep and monotone call may seem banal to some, but it always brought me comfort thinking of the lighthouse guiding boats as they toiled in the deep. Many boats have been wrecked on the rocky coasts of Maine, but no one knows how many Libby has saved from disaster, steering them toward harbor and home.”

I always wanted a fluffy oversized cardigan and this fit the bill. It is super soft and snuggly. It has a 5 - 7 inch positive ease which adds to the comfort of the garment. It is knit holding two yarns held double to give a marled knit. It uses a finger weight yarn and a lace weight yarn and when knit held double it gives you about a DK weight yarn. If you are going to knit it held double you will need the yardage for each yarn base.
