Lichen & Moss is cosy cowl with an interesting but easily remembered pattern, making it the ideal quick knit for last minute gifts, as well as a useful accessory to see you through the cold months. It is worked in two sizes, which could easily be adjusted for width as required. It makes a perfect partnership with the Lichen & Moss hat.

It could easily be made in a different yarn such as worsted by adjusting the number of CO sts.

Small (large):
Approximately 24’’ / 61 cm (48’’ / 122 cm) circumference.
Approximately 8.5’’ / 21.5 cm (10’’ / 25.5 cm) deep.

Double Knitting yarn:
Approx. 210yd (460)yd / 192m (421)m.
Shown in:
WalkCollection Cozy Merino DK, 1 (2) skeins.

US #8 / 5 mm, 24” / 60cm (40’’ / 100cm) circular needle.
US #6 / 4mm, needle for working i-cord BO.
One stitch marker.

22 sts / 30 rows = 4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) in lichen pattern with 5 mm / US #8, before blocking. Gauge is not critical for this pattern , but any change is likely to affect the finished size.

3 of 5 (or 2 of 5 if basic CO used)

Alternate cable CO (another stretchy CO could be substituted), knitting in the round, twisted stitches, I-cord BO.
The detailed instructions are both written and charted throughout, including explanation for the CO & BO.
The pattern has been fully tested and tech edited.

I’d love to see your progress / finished cowl over in the
