This beginner-friendly lap blanket crochet pattern is easy to customize for any gender, for kids, and for adults. Use solid or multi-color yarn for different looks. The blanket uses the same 1-row repeat throughout and a puff stitch border adds pop at the end.

Materials
King Cole Safari Chunky yarn (100% acrylic, 5.3 oz/150 g, 312 yd/285 m) – 4 skeins each in 5011 Rain Forest (CA) and 5000 Elephant (CB), or approximately 975 yd (891.5 m) in each of two colors in any bulky weight yarn.

US Size K-10.5/6.5 mm crochet hook, or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Yarn needle.

Gauge
12 sts = 4” (10 cm) across in pattern for Row 2. Exact gauge is not critical for this project.
