The Lighthouse Mittens are inspired by the east coast of Canada. The mittens feature lighthouse and wave motifs on the back, the fleur-de-lis diamond motif on the palm, and a fish motif on the thumb. The lighthouse motif in particular is based on the Cape Alright lighthouse on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

SIZE AND GAUGE
The intended gauge is 25 stitches x 26 rows = 10x10 cm. This results in a mitten that is a women’s M/L. The size can be adjusted by adjusting gauge.

YARN
Two colours of worsted weight yarn.

  • 40 g (~70 m) of light colour
  • 60 g (~107 m) of dark colour

The sample is knit in Briggs and Little Heritage and MacAusland’s Woolen Mill 2 ply, yarns from New Brunswick and PEI, respectively.

NEEDLES
4mm and 3.5mm double pointed needles

The pattern was made primarily for personal use so it is pretty minimal and not tested
