This pattern includes instructions on how to make the lighthouse and other details, how to make the wreath cover (to fit any sized wreath base) as well as how to assemble the finished wreath.

This pattern is written in English using American crochet terms and contains photos to help you every step of the way.

You will need:

Yarn of your choice for covering the wreath base & for making the lighthouse and other details. I used aran weight yarn throughout this project (from a variety of brands). Aran weight yarn is equivalent to worsted / weight 4 yarn, although DK or light worsted weight yarn would be fine to use too as the pattern will explain how to make the wreath cover the correct size in any yarn. Use the same weight yarn throughout your project. My completed lighthouse measures approximately 12.5cm tall.

For the wreath cover you will need the following colours:

  • Sky colour (approx. 122m).
  • Sea colour (approx. 13.5m).
  • Sand colour (approx. 30.5m).

For the lighthouse and other details you will need the following colours:

  • Red (approx. 6.5m).
  • White (approx. 13m).
  • Pale Grey (approx. 3.5m).
  • Dark Grey (approx. 4.5m).
  • Pale Yellow (approx. 13m).
  • Dark Yellow (approx. 2.5m).
  • Orange (approx. 4m).

Please note = The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide.

You will also need:

• A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

• A small amount of toy stuffing for the lighthouse.

• Dark grey finer yarn or embroidery thread for adding the crab’s eyes & mouth.

• A 25 cm flat-backed polystyrene / Styrofoam wreath base.

• A tapestry needle (the longer, the better).

• Any stars or sequins to decorate the night sky (optional) & a needle and thread to attach them.

• You may find it useful to have some long nosed pliers (for pulling the needle through the wreath).

• Other tools you will need are some scissors, some pins and a stitch marker.
