The LILLA scarf was inspired by the small rocky islands near Gothenburg and will always remind me of our beautiful summer trip. It’s the perfect match for the incredibly soft Alva yarn, which is made from recycled cashmere fiber.
This scarf is knit tip to tip and features a beautifully wavy edge. It’s super beginner-friendly – using only knit and slip stitches, along with simple increases and decreases. Thanks to the sideways construction, the scarf can be knitted in any yarn weight and at any gauge. Other special features of the pattern include the integrated I-cord edge as well as the designer’s signature cast-on and bind-off techniques, which are shown in easy-to-follow video tutorials. Helpful tips on how to count garter ridges are provided in detail.

SIZE
The LILLA scarf can be worn wound around the neck twice and tied with a knot. You can adjust the size to your liking and make the scarf in any size, yarn weight, gauge and matching needle size.
Both samples: Finished length: 145 cm (57 inches) / finished width: 19 cm (7.5 inches)
NEEDLES
Circular needles to match your yarn
Both samples: recommended size: 3.5 mm (US 4) with a length of at least 60 cm (24 inches)
GAUGE
It’s recommended to cast on the scarf directly with your chosen yarn and matching needle size. After a few centimeters/inches, you can wash and block or steam block the scarf to see if you like the fabric.
Both samples: 24 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) in garter stitch, measured after blocking

METERS NEEDED
Both samples: 200 m (219 yds)

Tapestry needle, stitch marker
strong textTECHNIQUES
The scarf features a clever cast-on and bind-off technique. Instructions for a more common cast-on method are given in the pattern, but it’s really recommended to try the magic-circle cast-on as shown in the video. You can cast on 4–10 stitches at once with this method, which creates a neat cast-on edge.
deutsch
