At the beginning of the year, I designed my Happy New Hat, and as I liked so much the combination of the leaves and roses it came naturally to work a sweater following up the theme.
For my sweater, I chose the same colours as for the hat, but WOW - take a look at the yokes and sleeves worked by my testers! This pattern gives so many possibilities to play around with your favourite colours (and also using up some scraps for the Fair Isle).

Design and construction
Crew neck and circular yoke with Fair Isle-patterning in combination with richly patterned sleeves, and in a not so heavy weighte yarn, makes this a great pullover to wear through the seasons. And the Fair Isle-pattern is perfect for using up some scrap yarn, too:)
The sweater is worked top-down and seamlessly.
The back neck is shaped using short-rows, meaning that the front neck will be deeper than the back neck.
The yoke is worked in the round to underarms, where you split work for sleeves and lower body.
All decreases on the sleeves are worked prior to the Fair Isle-pattern. The finishing work is limited to weaving in ends and blocking.

Sizes
Finished chest measurements, after washing/blocking and worked at gauge.
Size 1: 85 cm/33.5”
Size 2: 93 cm/36.5”
Size 3: 102 cm/40”
Size 4: 111 cm/44”
Size 5: 120 cm/47”
Size 6: 129 cm/51”
Size 7: 137 cm/54”
Size 8: 148 cm/58”
Size 9: 155 cm/61”
The sample is worked in size 1, with approximately 4 cm/1.5” positive ease. I recommend 2.5 – 10 cm/1 – 4” of positive ease.

Materials

Yarn: I recommend a fingering (or even a Sport) weight yarn that works up to gauge.
When working Fair-Isle knitting it is good to work with a yarn that isn’t too slippy.
The sample is worked using Biches et Buches ”Le petit Lambswool”. This fingering weight yarn comes in balls (and sometimes skeins) of 50 gr/1.76 oz and 248 m/271 yards.
You will need the following amount of this specific yarn to work the sweater.
MC – main colour: dark green grey/vert gris foncé, 800/850/900/975/1050/1125/1225/1325/1450 m = 875/930/985/1065/1145/1230/1340/1445/1585 yards. CC1 – contrasting colour 1: medium green grey/vert gris moyen, 1 ball. CC2 – contrasting colour 2: medium grey brown/gris brun moyen, 1 ball. CC3 – contrasting colour 3: light grey/gris clair, 1 ball. CC4 – contrasting colour 4: soft pink grey/rose gris doux, 1 ball.
Please note that the yardage on the “quick-menu” refers to the MC only.
Needles size 3 mm/US2.5 (or size required to obtain gauge).

Gauge
For best results work according to gauge. 24 sts in stockinette sts (in one colour only, as well as in Fair Isle pattern) = 10 cm/4”.

The pattern

This pattern is a tested pattern. List of testers below.

The Fair-Isle pattern is charted.
There are 2 kinds of charts: one coloured chart, one chart showing colours and numbers for each contrasting colour
which means that you don’t need a colour-printer to read the charts.

There is a schematic. All measurements are given in cm’s, as well as in inches.

The short-row technique of the upper back is explained.
There is a link to the Fair Isle technique.

Techniques involved: cast-on, bind-off, short-rows (for the neck-shaping), working Fair-Isle, following charts, picking up sts (underarm sts), putting sts on hold (sleeves, while working the lower body).

Skill level: intermedieate.

My testers have worked amazing sweaters.
A huge thank you to:
