Lilleline Shawl
I’m so excited to welcome you! For a limited time, enjoy my exclusive Introductory Offer: - 50%!
First of all, it’s an ode to Tukuwool yarn. Using rustic yarns, which often have a natural, slightly uneven texture, enhances the shawl’s organic appeal. The combination of brioche stitch and these yarns results in a fabric that is not only visually stunning but also rich in tactile interest. The natural color palette, inspired by the hues of earth, sky, and foliage, brings a sense of calm and connection to nature.
Lilleline Shawl
by Raina Kruus
Whether draped over your shoulders on a cool evening or worn as a statement piece, this shawl will remind you of the timeless beauty of flowers. It’s an ode to nature’s artistry, a piece that combines the meditative rhythm of knitting with the joy of creating something truly beautiful.
The brioche stitch’s lush, double-layered texture allows the shawl to mimic the natural folds and curves of flower petals. The use of two contrasting colors enhances this effect, adding depth and visual interest, much like the varying shades found in nature’s blooms.
The Lilleline (comes from the Estonian word for flower) Shawl is perfect for those who appreciate the beauty of natural fibers and the artistry of hand-knitted creations. It’s a piece that tells a story of nature’s elegance and the timeless craft of knitting. Shawl uses the same motif as my Lilleline Hat.
CONSTRUCTION and NOTES
The Lilleline Shawl is a classic top-down shawl, which is worked in one piece and consists of 3 identical triangle sections, with increases in the center as well as long the side edges. For brioche newbies, the Lilleline Shawl could be your first brioche shawl, as the pattern is filled with detailed explanations and lots of video links that show all the stitches and helpful hints. It’s also pleasant to knit since there is no need to count the stitches on every row.
The Lilleline Shawl will look great in most yarn weights. The pictured shawl was made with sport weight yarn, but it can easily be worked in DK, aran or even lace and fingering weight yarn. Your shawl size depends on how many pattern repeats you do. The shawl featured here in the pattern has 14 full and half flower motifs down the central spine counting from the top down.
The pattern is easily adjusted to any size by simply adding or reducing the number of repeat sections. The entire shawl is worked in an easy and meditative back and forth brioche stitch pattern. It might be one of the easiest and fastest brioche shawl you’ve ever knit and it is perfect for beginners.
