Both the dolls and their outfits are knitted flat on standard straight needles and then seamed. You’ll use basic stitches throughout, working the dolls from the head down, and adding the arms and hair at the end for that personal handmade touch.

Lilly’s dress features a charming knot stitch, which might challenge adventurous beginners—but don’t worry, the stocking stitch version is just as lovely and much simpler. The pinafore dress uses only knit and purl stitches, and you’ll also find a plain version included.

You can knit Lilly and May with socks and shoes worked right into the legs (so nothing ever goes missing), or leave their feet bare and make a few pairs of sweet little shoes to mix and match with every outfit—the choice is yours!
