Yarn Substitutes

Choose a smooth 100% cotton fingering-weight yarn with a similar yardage (approximately 600 m per 100 g) that matches the stated gauge. Since the drape of the ruffle is important, a soft cotton yarn with good stitch definition is recommended.

Construction

The body is worked flat as one piece, forming the Left Front, Back, and Right Front continuously. The straps are crocheted separately and then sewn to the Back.

The ruffle is worked by picking up stitches along the lower edge of the body. The button bands are then worked directly onto the Front edges. Finally, the button bands are overlapped, sewn together, and buttons are attached.

The pattern includes the following stitches and techniques:

  • Chain (ch)
  • Single Crochet (sc)

  • Double Crochet (dc)

  • Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc)
  • Back Post Double Crochet (BPdc)
  • Working from crochet charts
  • Picking up stitches
  • Joining new yarn

Skill Level

Intermediate

This is a chart-based crochet pattern recommended for crocheters who are comfortable reading crochet charts. Several sections require joining a new strand of yarn and picking up stitches, so familiarity with basic crochet techniques is recommended.
