This garment offers rich texture, airy lace and lots of soft color. It’s a satisfyingly meditative and surprisingly quick knit with an elegant, feminine feel.


This pattern uses a Crochet Cast-On.

Yarns Used: Madeline Tosh Merino Light (Fingering/4-ply; 100% Merino Wool; 100 g; 420 yd./384 m). One skein in Rose and one skein in Birch Grey

Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm) 32” (81 cm) circular needle.

Yardage: 600 yd (548 m) - 300 yd (274 m) in each color.

Gauge: 1 pattern repeat: 2.75 in./7 cm x .5 in./1 cm.
36 stitches and 44 rows over 5.5 in./14 cm in CP1 with US 5/3.75 mm after blocking.

Other Notions: Stitch markers, Crochet hook (for crochet cast on), Darning/tapestry needle.

Final Measurements: 44” (112 cm) circumference; 11” (28 cm) tall. If you you would like to increase or decrease the circumference of the cowl, simply add or subtract a multiple of 18 stitches.
