Line Top
Line Top is worked sideways as one continuous piece, back and forth. You start with a provisional cast-on and continue with the right armhole, front, left armhole and lastly the back. Armholes, straps and neckline are shaped with a combination of increases and decreases as well as by casting on new stitches, binding off stitches and German short rows. The body is grafted in one side using Kitchener stitch for an invisible join.
Lastly, armholes, straps and neckline are finished with i-cord edges that serve as a decorative element as well as making the top more durable and long-lasting.
Line Top is worked in a striped pattern with two alternating colors. The stripes in one of the colors are worked over more rows throughout than the other, making it the dominate color (MC). How you choose your colors can dramatically alter the look of the top – you can go for high contrast with two very different colors or for low contrast with two colors that are fairly similar to achieve a more subtle look.
We recommend that you carry your yarns up along on the wrong side instead of cutting them each time you change color in order to avoid weaving in lots of loose ends when you finish.
