This pattern is available for free.

Free pattern for a knitted Christmas stocking. Stranded colorwork is used to create stripes with hearts and trees, and stripes with sleighs and holly. These are then decorated with beads and French knots. The name is worked in duplicate-stitch.

You can also add a sewn lining to the stocking. Directions for the lining are also provided. Lining is made of jersey knit fabric.

It is worked flat on straight needles and has a seam in the center of the back.

Running across some plastic Easter eggs, it occurred to me that they could be used for yarn bobbins by placing a ball of yarn inside with the tail hanging out. These were honestly the best thing I ever used. See the details in the pattern.

The colorwork pattern was drawn using the Grid Designer drawing tool. Grid Designer is a free, online drawing tool that I created. No installation, no login required. It runs in your browser. See more about it at http://www.freese-works.com.

You can load the patterns for this Christmas stocking into the Grid Designer and edit them to make your own changes. You can even create your own pattern there.
