This project combines two different stitch patterns that derive textural contrast from slip-stitch techniques. The fabric/linen stitch used in the main body results in a densely woven fabric that when worked on a large needle looks deceptively delicate. The striking aesthetic of the border, created with the honeycomb stitch pattern, resembles a sculptural bas-relief. Whether utilitarian hand towel or afternoon tea accoutrement, this project’s construction technique is a valuable addition to a knitter’s stitch pattern repertoire.
