A modern, skullcap-style crochet beanie in linen stitch (AKA moss stitch). Worked top-down and in the round, so no seaming or assembly is required.

This pattern is written using US terminology, and is ideal for someone who has conquered the basics of crochet and wants a quick, satisfying project to put their new skills to the test.
