A flattering style on almost any body type, this cardigan will be a must in your wardrobe this fall. Similar to the widely popular Opening Night this cardigan has a lot of swing and drape in the front all while the back is a nice tailored fit.

It is best to choose a size that will fit your shoulders and back as the fronts are made to be extra large. By choosing a size that will fit your shoulders and back you are ensureing that you won’t have an overall too big fit.

The one that was made for me is a size XL but I typically wear a 2xl and I love the way this one fits me. It is a tad too snug in the sleeves but not so bad I won’t wear it. Anyway, that is just to help you choose the right size to make.

Knit in pieces then seamed together in a way that allows the front collar trim and the bottom trim to drap at the hips and not add unnecessary fabric to the back side.

The fun scroll pattern used in the trims is reversible so there are no worries about showing the “wrong side”.

The yarn used in this piece is a worsted weight, kettle dyed yarn called Red Rocks Fiber Works, “Highlands” (100% Superwash Merino; color Red Lipstick). This yarn is not available anymore but is easily substitutable. I would recommend the yarns I have listed above. Notice all have the same type of twist.
