This is a pattern for a very “long wingspan” crescent shaped and quite deep shawl that is comprised of two different lace stitches. The focal stitch of the shawl is a fun one to work, and is a very easy stitch. The ornate lace edging stitch is added in the traditional Shetland manner, and gives a beautiful and graceful bottom to the shawl. The overall effect makes one ready for fall.

The shawl measures 70 inches at the widest points across the top and is 28 inches deep at the deepest point. It is made with a heavier of the fingering weight yarns, and is knit on size 7 (U.S.) needles. The shawl requires approximately 1000 yards of yarn making it both a perfect warm lacy shawl for the fall.

The stitches are both charted and written out line by line.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).

The yarn used in the sample is Fleece Artist’s Kidazzle yarn, in colorway, Cactus Flower. and requires approximately 3 skeins to knit.

The sample was expertly test knitted by Rachel McKinney who can be contacted at: 100creations @gmail.com, and who is known on Ravelry as “100creations.”
