This pattern was designed to be simple and elegant with plenty of room to modify as desired. This blanket features a simple seed stitch border with stockinette stitch for the main body. Colorwork was incorporated for a customizable item, with indefinite options for color combinations. The chart may be moved to any portion of the blanket desired, though the pattern is written intending the lettering to be in the lower right corner.

Please note! Babies can easily get their fingers caught in floats on the wrong side of the colorwork! Please be sure to catch your floats often so this will not be a possibility!

Dimensions for this blanket were intended for a newborn to 6 month old. Dimensions are also customizable, simply make sure your chart will fit within the dimensions based on your gauge.

Gauge is only important if the dimensions mentioned are desired. As this is a blanket, gauge is not incredibly important. If you would like different dimensions, I would suggest knitting a 4” swatch and dividing the intended dimensions by 4, then multiply that number by the number of stitches your tension swatch had.

Desired width of blanket / 4 = x
(x) x number of stitches in swatch = number of stitches to cast on

For example: If you want your blanket to be 32” wide, if you knit a tension swatch and have 12 stitches in 4”, you would divide 32/4 = 8, then multiply 8 x 12 stitches = 96 stitches to cast on to give you a 32” wide blanket.

Materials needed include:
Category 4 worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors
Knitting needles (US 10 or otherwise desired)
4 stitch markers
Scissors
Darning needle

For 38”x31” blanket, a little more than half of Lion Brands Pound of Love was used, and a small amount of a contrasting color. For average worsted weight skeins, you will likely need two skeins, though this highly depends on the dimensions you may want.
