Little Christmas MKAL
Little Christmas — top-down children’s sweater covered in festive stranded colourwork, from neckline to hem
English below · Version française plus bas
ENGLISH
Little Christmas was born as a Christmas mystery knit-along: a sweater revealed step by step, knitted together with the community. Unlike my other children’s sweaters, where the colourwork stays on the yoke, here it covers the whole sweater from neckline to hem: Christmas trees, presents, holly, snowflakes and hearts, band after band.
The KAL is over, but the step-by-step video guidance remains: you can knit along with the videos, from cast-on to finishing. No previous colourwork experience needed.
Both the English and French PDFs are included with your purchase.
Sizes: 6 months, 9–12 months, 18 months, 2–3 years, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 years
Finished chest circumference: 46 to 81 cm / 18 to 32” per size to fill in
Yarn: fingering-weight yarn — sample knitted in Katia Merino Baby (100% extra-fine merino, 175 m / 50 g)
4 colours: 1 main colour (MC) and 3 contrast colours (CC1, CC2, CC3)
Yardage: 300–1,040 m / 328–1,137 yds in total depending on size — amounts per colour and per size in the pattern and in the photos
Needles: circular needles in the lengths needed for the body, sleeves and neckline
- 2.75 mm (US 2) for ribbing
- 3.25 mm (US 3) for stockinette
- 3.5 mm (US 4) for colourwork
Gauge: 26 sts × 36 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette on 3.25 mm needles
Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle
