Description
Crochet a compact, perchable crow amigurumi with sturdy no-wire legs. The pattern uses simple stitches (sc, inc, inv-dec) and minimal sewing. Wings are worked flat for a clean curve. A kid-safe variant (embroidered eyes) is provided.

Finished Size / Options

Sample size: 6–7 in (15–18 cm) tall with worsted (4) yarn and a 3.5 mm (E) hook.

To adjust size: go down a hook for a smaller, denser crow; go up a hook (or hold yarn double) for a larger plush. You can also add/remove 1–2 “even” rounds on head and body for small height tweaks.

Gauge
Gauge isn’t critical for amigurumi—fabric should be firm so stuffing doesn’t show.

Reference: ~7–8 sc per inch (≈ 28–32 sc / 4”) in the round, or ~6 sc ≈ 2 cm at amigurumi tension. Adjust hook to achieve a dense fabric.

Materials

Yarn: Worsted/Aran (4), mostly black.

Hook: 3.5 mm (E). Makers who crochet loosely may prefer 3.25 mm (D); tight crocheters can use 3.75 mm (F).

Notions: 8–10 mm safety eyes (or embroidery for kid-safe), fiberfill, yarn needle, stitch marker.

Optional: diluted PVA/fabric stiffener for toes.

Yardage / Skeins

Main color (MC, black): ~65–115 yd (60–105 m) — one typical 100 g skein of worsted is plenty.

Accent (beak/contrast, optional): ~2–6 yd (2–6 m).

Total: ~70–120 yd (64–110 m) (most makers use ~90 yd).

Upper end reflects the longer wing option and firmer stuffing.

Techniques Used
magic ring (mr), single crochet (sc), increase (inc), invisible decrease (inv-dec), chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st). Wings and tail are worked flat; head/body in the round.

Construction & Sewing
Head and body are crocheted separately and joined; wings, tail, beak, and legs are sewn on. Legs are crocheted cords (no wire) for a firm, child-friendly finish.

Skill Level
Confident beginner (photo cues included).

Safety & Selling

For children under 3, replace safety eyes with embroidered eyes.
