Throughout the spring and summer months, farmland undergoes transformation: in fields, rows of tiny seedlings grow bit by bit each day until they are full-fledged crops swaying in warm breezes, anchored by strong roots in rich soil. Seen from above, fields can astound with their graceful lines, clear order, and mix of textures and hues. Inspired by country landscapes, this baby blanket offers a bird’s eye view of a field. A traditional banjo cable is used in repeat to produce tidy rows of “crops,” while textured stitches around the field represent the fencerows, roadbanks, and gravel roads often found in those country scenes. Please note: this pattern is designed to use nearly all of the recommended yarn; if you add rows or cast on stitches beyond what the pattern calls for, you may need to purchase additional yarn.
