This pattern includes three designs inspired by the Aran Islands and their knitting traditions. The jumpers have designs representing sand, seashells, fishermen’s cables and chains, seaweed and crabs claws. I like to knit children’s aran jumpers in double knitting for a lighter feel. I chose faded, seaside colours to complete the look. The jumpers are perfect for keeping out sea breezes at the coast, or indeed any breeze, anywhere. The front panel has an 8 row repeat making it easy to memorise and the sleeves have only slight detailing, making this a much simpler project than it might at first look. Sizes range from 6 months to approximately 8 years.
