Little Goatie

Crochet your own Little Goatie — an expressive plush goat with two styling options: overalls with a pocket or a dress with a flower.

The design is documented in three yarn-and-hook setups, so you can choose the scale that works best for your project. The pattern is highly visual, with extensive photo and video support for shaping, construction, and finishing details.

What’s included

  • Little Goatie crochet instructions
  • overalls with a pocket
  • dress
  • flower accessory
  • 240+ step-by-step photos
  • 10 Little Goatie-specific video tutorials
  • 7 additional general crochet-tip videos
  • English instructions using US crochet terms

Three finished sizes

Choose one of three documented yarn setups:

  • Approx. 6.3 in (16 cm) — thin plush yarn around 131 yd / 1.76 oz (120 m / 50 g), approx. 1.06 oz (30 g) of main yarn, 2.25 mm hook
  • Approx. 8.7 in (22 cm) — Himalaya Dolphin Fine or comparable plush yarn around 191 yd / 3.53 oz (175 m / 100 g), approx. 1.76 oz (50 g) of main yarn, 2.5 mm hook
  • Approx. 12.6 in (32 cm) — Himalaya Dolphin Baby or comparable plush yarn around 131 yd / 3.53 oz (120 m / 100 g), approx. 3.53 oz (100 g) of main yarn, 3.75 mm hook

Finished size is approximate and may vary depending on yarn thickness, hook size, tension, stitch style, and stuffing.

Skills & construction

This pattern is best suited to crocheters who are already comfortable with standard amigurumi techniques.

You will use techniques such as:

  • magic ring and working in spiral rounds
  • SC, increases, and decreases
  • joining limbs during crochet
  • working small separate pieces
  • stuffing and shaping
  • attaching and positioning small parts
  • simple embroidery and facial shaping
  • crocheting garment and accessory pieces

The arms and legs are integrated into the crochet process where instructed. The ears, horns, and facial details still require attachment and finishing, so this is not a no-sew construction.

Yarn & materials

For the eyes and facial details, you will need small amounts of semi-cotton yarn such as:

  • YarnArt Jeans — 175 yd / 1.76 oz (160 m / 50 g)
  • Alize Cotton Gold — 361 yd / 3.53 oz (330 m / 100 g)

Depending on the selected yarn setup, the detail hook is approximately 1.75–2 mm, 2.5 mm, or 3.75 mm.

You will also need:

  • polyester toy stuffing
  • long needle for facial shaping
  • sewing / embroidery needle
  • strong sculpting thread such as nylon thread or dental floss
  • pins
  • scissors
  • stitch marker and standard crochet accessories
  • pink blush or soft pastel for finishing, if desired

Video support

The pattern includes 10 video tutorials specifically for Little Goatie, covering project-specific construction and shaping steps.

It also includes 7 additional general crochet-tip videos for techniques that can be useful while working on the project.

The two groups are intentionally separate: the 7 crochet-tip videos are general technique references rather than additional Little Goatie construction tutorials.

An internet connection is required to watch the linked videos.
