This is a baby bonnet with a simple lace pattern that looks like little hearts. It is easy to do and ideal if you are new to lace knitting.
The ribbed brim frames the face nicely and the ties ensure it stays on.

You begin by casting on at the brim of the bonnet and work a short section of 1x1 rib, followed by the lace pattern with an integral garter stitch border at the neck edge. These are both knit flat on straight needles. At the start of the crown shaping you can choose whether to continue flat or work in the round from this point. Stitches are picked up for i-cords at each side of the brim for the bonnet ties.
This is an easy pattern. If you can cast on, cast off (bind off in the US), knit, purl and work simple increases and decreases, you can knit this bonnet. A video tutorial link is included for anything else you might need.
