The Little Knit Mouse is a soft creature observed near cottages and quiet homes. Notable characteristics include rounded ears and a preference for inhabiting bookshelves, reading nooks, and old desks. Frequently spotted playing with house cats.

The mice are constructed with small amounts of yarn, making them particularly well-suited for stash-busting and using up leftovers from other projects.

Size
The finished mouse is approximately 7-8cm / 2.75-3.25” from end to end (not including tail).

Yarn and Yardage
At least 3g of fingering weight sock yarn, or 12 yards. Sock yarn with nylon is preferred, as it will be more durable. The yarn suggested is some of what I’ve used, but you really can use any scrap sock yarn for this project.

Black embroidery thread or scraps of black fingering weight yarn is needed for the eyes.

Needles
US 0/2.0mm, or size needed to achieve a tight fabric.
Exact gauge isn’t important for this pattern, but the fabric should be tight enough not to loose stuffing during play. I find for most yarn, US 0/2.0mm or US 1/2.25mm is the best choice.

Notions
Knitting needles (straight needles, or any other needles for knitting flat), darning needle, polyfill for stuffing, and black embroidery thread or scrap pieces of fingering weight yarn for eyes.
