I love my chickens. They bring me so much happiness as does knitting so it made only sense that my first ever mitten pattern should feature my little feathered friends. My “original group” of hens were two breeds: dominiques, and the ever popular golden comets. These “little red hens” are the inspiration for this pattern.

These mittens can be knit with either sport weight or DK weight yarn. My sample pair I actually used one of each (Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Sport in “pumpkin” and Cascade 220 in chocolate heather). The pattern is written and there’s colorwork charts. I’ve also included a video you can watch for tips.
