“You’re strong-willed and agile, like the scorpion.” Inspired by Vanessa Ives from the hauntingly beautiful Penny Dreadful series, Little Scorpion is a top-down colorwork yoke sweater featuring a high/mock-neck worked in corrugated ribbing, intricate 3-color motifs through the yoke and bottom of the 3/4 length sleeves, and stockinette body. I am so incredibly excited to share this design with you, and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Details:

  • Intermediate/Advanced level
  • Written in English and US terms
  • Skills to know: Cast on, knit, purl, join and work in the round, 3-color stranded colorwork, catching/trapping floats, lifted and make one increases, decreases, backwards loop cast on, pick up and knit
  • You’ll need: US size 2 (2.75mm) needles or as needed to achieve gauge
  • 16-40” circulars recommended for the yoke/body; 12” circulars, DPNs, or longer cable for magic loop for the sleeves, waste yarn to place stitches on hold, stitch markers, pins for blocking, and a tapestry needle. Knit blockers and mats recommended but not necessary for blocking; a Norwegian knitting thimble can be helpful as well!

Taken after wet blocking, using US size 2 (2.75mm) needles. Note, you may need to use different needle sizes for plain stockinette vs colorwork sections depending on your tension.
