Little Shell Socks Pattern

The Little Shell Socks pattern was inspired by creating textures while striping. It was also named after finding shells along the beach!

This sock uses multiple colours of Sock / Fingering weight. Create your own combination of stripes using this yardage recipe:

• Each Stripe section uses 2-4g of yarn
• Each Cuff uses 3-6g of yarn
• Each Heel/Toe uses 2-5g of yarn

80% SW Merino, 20% Nylon | 5 x 20g |67m |73yd
I used CC1-CC4 for the leg and foot and CC5 for the heel and toe and both socks used 58g | 194m | 212yd total.

Construction
This pattern is a cuff-down sock with a heel flap and gusset. The pattern is written for 9” | 23cm circular needles but can be adjusted to use magic loop or double pointed needles. There are separate instructions for Sock 1 and Sock 2, so you can create a mirrored pair of socks.

Gauge
36 sts by 48 rounds per 4x4” | 10x10cm in stockinette stitch, worked in the round, after blocking.

US 1 | 2.25mm – 9” | 23cm circular needle
US 1 | 2.25mm – 32” | 80cm circular needle
Stitch markers (2)
Tapestry needle

Size
Three sizes: A (B, C), corresponding to a foot circumference of 6-7” (8-9”, 10-11”) | 15-18cm (20-23cm, 25-28cm) with 1-2” |2.5-5cm negative ease.

The Cuff, Leg, and Foot lengths are adjustable. It is recommended that you weigh your yarn and plan your stripes, reserving enough for sock 2.

Sample
Sample shown is Size A to fit a US 6.5 shoe with 8” | 20cm in foot length and 8” | 20cm in foot circumference. Sample completed Sock 1 twice. Sample used a total of 60g | 200m | 220yds.
